The CJ Stewart Foundation uses a series of obstacles at Down Range to teach students about leadership, perseverance, and humility while working together to solve a task. JA takes students in groups of 18-20 for a day of activities. Hopefully students will learn something about themselves that they did not already know – for example, students who wouldn’t normally consider themselves a “leader” typically emerge as leaders on different tasks. We also hope students will learn something new about a classmate. Most of the time, these groups are randomly chosen so students might be with others that they are not normally with. According to Mrs. Wilkerson, “It is not unusual to see new friendships form as a result of the days at Down Range.”
